Who´s has two thumbs and was able to make alfajors this week?

  This Hermana Missionary!

SUP MY PEEPS!

I hope everything is going well back home.

This week, as you can CLEARLY tell by the photos I did something beyond AWESOME! We were invited to go to an alfajor factory and see how they make them. We were also (clearly) allowed to participate in the process! Putting the dulce de leche on the cookies was a lot harder then it looks.  I missed the dulce de leche by a second or two a few times, and put a dollop right on the table. Lol! They had to clean up my mess. Also, trying to take photos while doing this was harder since we had to keep putting on and taking off our gloves. When we got to actually packaging the alfajors we had to put them on the conveyor belt, which was going a little fast. But we got down the rhythm. It was so cool! And the two guys helping us were very nice and patient with us. :) They also gave us two boxes of alfajors when we were done, so we will be enjoying them later. :) It was such a blast! If they lasted longer then two months I would totally bring them home to you guys. I´ll see what I can do...

CHALLENGE! - I'm officially challenging everyone reading my blog. I would like to know who is reading it (and how you are doing. :D). So, your challenge is to write me a letter on Dearelder.com. It´s super easy and will surely brighten my spirits. Just sign up, click on 'write a letter', look up the Argentina - Resisencia Mission and send a letter to Sister Erin Griffeth.   How easy is that?  No postage at all! Also, If you could include your favorite scripture, and explain why, I would love you forever! Thanks! Have you accepted my Challenge?

Most of you will love to know, that after a week of sickness, Hermana Parker is doing a whole lot better! Yeah! Now, I´m the one getting sick... BOO! But, I don´t think it´s that bad. I did get a sty in my eye (ick) this week, but it´s almost gone. I had a stuffy nose REAL bad, but last night I took a Zyrtec and it looks like that it might have just been an allergy thing, and all is well. So don´t worry!

We are also doing a lot of catching up here. After a week stuck in our apartment, we had our days planned and booked to go visit the people we normally do. We have this one investigator named Ramon. He´s our most challenging one right now who has a baptismal date. He´s almost blind. He´s only been losing his sight for less then a year now, but thanks to his diabetes, it´s almost gone. The doctors tell him that if he gets his sugar under control, they can operate and see how that goes. So we are trying our hardest to teach him and get him to Church, especially since none of his family is interested. But we are hoping all will go well. He has a pretty big desire.

Well, other then that, not much more happened this week. We are working really hard, and this week might be our last week together. Transfers are on August 8th and we´ve been together now for three transfers (including the one in Resistencia), but you never know what the Lord has in store for you. Thanks for all the prayers and for being a huge support. Love you, be strong, be safe, and trust in the Lord.

What a Sick week.

¡Hola Familia! ¿Como Están?

What a week, seriously... WHAT WEEK?  To explain, let me use my companion's own words; "Thank goodness for two nostrils!"  Lol!  She´s had a stuffy nose for about 10 days now, so we haven´t left the apartment - but she has been really patient. The area doctor told her it was a seven day flu, and that it would take 7-8 days to clear up, so When we hit day nine (yesterday), she finally called the doctor.  With some new information to the doctor, he determined that it wasn´t a simple seven day flu, it was a EVIL LITTLE Sinus infection.... So we had to get the miracle drugs yesterday to start this week long healing process and she should start being as good as new. We´ll find out soon I guess. She´s starting to feel a lot better. We might even leave the apartment tomorrow... YEAH!

So, what have I been doing this week you ask while my companion has been sleeping (or trying to sleep is the right phrase)? I have attached some photos to show you! I´ve cleaned the house like three times, washed ALL of the clothes, made card board armor (Armor of God) for a Family Home Evening (I was playing with it a little bit also :D ) and braided Hermana Parker´s hair. ( I think I'm getting better with the french braid)  We started a puzzle, but haven´t even gotten close to finishing it. I've organized about half the apartment, and tried writing in my journal.   Then tried to do as much as I could for Hermana Parker. She´s been going a little crazy stuck indoors...

But sick or not, we had the baptism of Maria Rosa (oldest) and Silvana! I´ve sent you a couple of pictures of the baptism. They we so cute!  Poor Maria Rosa, she´s afraid of water (we didn´t find out until after the Baptism) and she had to be baptised 3 times because her foot kept coming out of the water. But she was a trouper and all went well. We had to combine the baptisms this week with the Elders of Taquari because the Aunt is the Relief society president there and wanted to see the baptism of the other girl also, and they were at the same time. So, it actually worked out really well for us, with Hermana Parker being sick and all. So the Elders took care of everything thing. lol  Of course the adversary was working against us again. All of the water in the Church was slightly brown, and the water heater didn't work. So when I say the girls were troupers, it´s a fact.  It was still awesome and you could feel the spirit so strongly.  Sunday they were both confirmed members and received the Holy Ghost (with Victoria). It was awesome.
The day before (the only day that we left the apartment - Friday),  I had to go to Resistencia to finish up my visa stuff, and Hermana Parker was nice enough to suffer a five hour bus ride at 2am, wait all day at the Church while I headed into Corrientes to finish up the papers and then take a five hour bus ride back. She was awesome, and I felt bad that she had to go, with her being sick and all. But to make up for her suffering, I treated her to McDonald's! There is only ONE in our mission, And we enjoyed it. I´ve sent a photo of the epic moment. :)

Well, other then that stuff... HONESTLY, not much more happened this week. lol :) But, It´s been a good slow week, and I was able to catch up on a bunch of stuff.

Thanks for all the prayers and support. Love you guys so much, and I'm so grateful that we are all super strong in the Lord's Church. I'm so grateful to be here, and to help bring people unto Christ. Be smart, Be Safe, trust in the lord, and all will be well.

I love you!

Something ALWAYS goes wrong...

Hey My peeps!
How is everything going?
Beautiful Victoria on her baptism day
What a fast flying week. It´s been pretty stressful. We had Victoria´s baptism this week, so most of the week was involved in running around everywhere. Not to mention the fact that she wasn´t staying in our area... Her mom went to Buenos Aires for about two weeks, and she went to stay at her uncle's house in another area, so we couldn´t even finish teaching her the lessons. We had to send the Elders from Jardín to finish teaching them. Then, to add to the stress, her mom had to extend her trip, so she didn´t get back until Friday the 13th, a week later, and Victoria's baptism was the next day. So we were stressing, and then they (her family) had to change the time of the Baptism to the morning of the 14th, and it takes the baptismal font about four hours to fill. So we went to the chapel Friday morning to fill it a little bit, but then we figured out that the water heater was broken, and our awesome member whose job is to get everything fixed for the churches, was nice enough to get someone to fix it that night. So we went back that night and filled it for about an hour while we waited for Bishop to come and give the interview to Victoria, then came back the next morning (Saturday) at 7am. To add to the stress, the Bishop then told us that neither he nor any of his counselors could come to the baptism. So we were super short on Witnesses and someone to preside. We called a TON of people, and when we couldn´t find anyone else, we asked the Elders to come and help us.
The view from the church Saturday morning
All and all, it turned out great. Even though my stress level was VERY high, Victoria was super stoked.

The after math of the Baptism... there is no automatic drainage system to the baptismal font, so we have to put in a topper... the problem, it´s kind of hard to get out. Took us a little bit. But, finally we got it out. Thank goodness. :)

We´ve also spent the past day and a half indoors. My companion got a cold, so she´s been sleeping a ton. I´ve been washing my clothes, cleaning the house, and trying to find things to do.
I also found out today that I get my trunky papers tomorrow, so you should be receiving flight information within the next month or so....
We are super stoked for this up coming weekend also - we will be having two more baptisms. Sisters - María Rosa and Silvana. They are really excited for this Saturday.  We want the mom to be able to get baptized with them, but the separation of  the Boyfriend/Dad  isn´t completely a separation as he still sleeps in the house... But our Zone Leaders are asking if she can still be baptised, we´ll see what happens. We´re praying.
Well, nothing much more happened this week, but we are working hard. Things are going great here in Posadas. Lots of walking, lots of clapping (instead of knocking), and a lot of laughter. I´m stoked to be here. I love this work, no matter how tired I am, I know why I´m here. This is the Lord's work, and I know that I´m on the winning side.

I love you all so much, Be safe, Be smart, and Trust in the Lord.
LOVE LOVE LOVE,

PS. Kyle has mistakenly switched the names of the countries... What he meant to say is that he ¨can't wait until Argentina beats Chile in the world cup in two years.¨ :)

Happy late 4th of July!

Sup mi Familia!

Happy (very late) 4th of July!  First, our awesome new (Chilean) district leader was totally willing to sing the
Star Spangled Banner in broken English... it was strangely awesome. He´s strangely attached to English, so he didn´t have a problem at all. Ha ha. :) We were able to celebrate it in our own little missionary way.... kind of. :)  We dressed up in red, white and Blue - as you can clearly tell from the photos. We were a little excited. We made patriotic pancakes for breakfast, and ended the night with some north American Burgers. and Fries. :) They were super good. Totally worth it. GOD BLESS AMERICA! Booya!!

Victoria, our 8 year old wonder, is being baptised this week! On Saturday, and then we have two AWESOME chicas next week - Maria and Silvana!  I'm so excited for them, and they are so excited. They are awesome. so excited to learn. and when we gave them their own Book of Mormon, they held it in their hands like we had just given them a home made doll. It was so GREAT to see that!

We traveled to Resistencia last Friday. We left at 2am to get there at 8am and It took about five hours to renew my visa so I can stay in the country for six more months... basically four now. Then we left for the bus terminal at like 2pm so we could take the 3pm bus. But all the seats were sold out, so we had to wait until 5pm... and the terminal was COLD! Three hours sitting there in the cold was not my ideal time. Anyway, we got back by 10:30pm.. and slept. It was a long day....

Sorry fam, this email is super short. We didn´t do much more this week.

Love you all so much, and I´m so grateful for your letters every week that give me a giant boost for the rest of the week. I love this gospel and this work with all of my heart. I´ve almost hit 14 months and I´m so sad that it is ending so fast. I just have to work even harder now. :)

Be smart, be Safe, Trust in the lord.

I love YOU ALL!

Una Semana LARGA!

Hey ho Familia!

Transfers have come and gone, and what a blessing! Hermana Parker and I are still together here in Posadas.  This will be my fifth transfer in Roque Sáenz Peña, Posadas - and my third transfer with Hermana Parker. We will see what the Lord has in store for us. :)  We have many different plans for this transfer, and we are stoked to see how they turn out. Woot!

We had interviews with President and Hermana Heyman today. It really is amazing to me how fast these things go by. We just had interviews a couple of months ago, but it seems like just a week. It´s weird, the time here in the mission.  It just seems to mix together - or maybe that is just me. :P  Oh well.  It´s been a weird p-day. :)

Yesterday we had an even bigger MIRACLE. We had nine investigators in Church yesterday!  I don´t think I´ve ever been more excited about the number of investigators that are progressing, even in Formosa where we had 15 in the Church one day. But I don´t know if it´s because I just didn´t know how good it was in Formosa, or because I´ve had very, VERY low numbers of Investigators in the church here, but it was an awesome feeling. Like we were actually doing something.

I’m not going to be able to send you all the photos I wanted to. We were looking at my camera and playing with some of the settings and accidently deleted all of my photos... :( BUT!  By sheer luck, I have been transferring all of my photos onto a flash drive that I bought at the start of my mission, so I only lost about the last week. And even then, before we accidently deleted the photos, Hermana Parker transferred most of them to her camera so I can just get them from here. But on the plus side, we figured out a lot of cool settings my camera does. :) Lol

Well, that is about the end of my exciting week. I´m glad everything is going well. I love hearing from all of you (ish) and I´m so glad to hear that everything is going well. Thank you for all of your support, and for staying strong in the ONLY true and living church on the earth today. I know that it´s true. I testify of it every day and I´m more than happy to sacrifice this time to bring about the work of the Lord. The Lord knows exactly who we are, and what we all need. (I was reminded of that this morning in my interview.) I love you all so much. Keep fighting the good fight. :) Be smart, be safe, trust in the Lord.

Love love love

ps. Trying to send photos, but it´s not letting me. If you get them, it worked. If you didn´t, you´ll get them next week. Let me know and mom, I want photos of the house. :)
