Interviews.

HEY FAMILIA!

How is everything going there at home?
FIRST... FELIZ CUMPLEANOS LISA!!
I sent a letter, you should be getting it soon. :)

Now that Kyle has been in the MTC for almost 2 weeks, it sounds like
he's doing great. CONGRATS BABE! Keep at that Spanish, but don't study
during your Personal and Companionship study. That time is meant to
study the doctrine that you'll be teaching, which surprisingly
enough, is more important than the language. :) FACT

This week we had interviews with President... Let's just say that it
sounds like that I'm going to have to remove my skates, and start
walking on slick ice. We'll find out what that means in two weeks. ..
Wow, two weeks and we have transfers - AGAIN! Hermana Lopez and I
will have been together for 4 1/2 months, so we are almost sure one of us
will be transferred, but we don't know who. We have spent the same time
in this area. So... ya. We'll find out soon.

This week we have had to drop a lot of our investigators, and a lot of them have dropped us. So we are now trying harder then ever to find new people to teach. Let's just say that we have contacted a few people who's faces say "Why are they talking to me?"  "I hope no one sees me talking to the Mormons."  "Sure I will take this pamphlet so you will stop talking to me." It just hasn't been a very encouraging week(s).

It has gotten a bit chilly here in Posadas. Especially at night, shown by the photos. And it is only Autumn... I am going to die in the Winter... haha! I love the photo of Hermana Lopez, it reminds me of a
grandma in Russia... I don't know why :)

Well, I have run out of time again... and things to say. :) But I love
you guys so much, and I am grateful for the opportunity to share this
gospel of happiness, gospel of Jesus Christ with the people of
Argentina.

Be safe, be Smart, Trust in the Lord, and Write me. ;)

Love you,

Hola!

FAMILIA!
¿Como Están? I hear that everything is very quiet in the house now... what are you guys going to do when Lisa moves out this week!?! Suerte... Wow, seriously... fast flying time! Who can believe it!? I CAN'T!
I talked to a less active member here that went to Viña del Mar for his mission. He said there are A LOT of hills and it´s HOT! so.... Good luck Kyle! How was Kyle´s first week? Has he written? If so, send me the email. I would love to read it. Kyle if your reading this, HOW GOES EVERYTHING? How is the language? How is your companion? ect.... And if I sent this to the wrong kyle... Good luck you... :)
We are teaching a Family (mom and daughter) here in Posadas that is great. Barring any problems, they will be baptized on May 5th. A friend of the daughter's is also listening to the lessons and she has gone to church twice with her. She us young, so we can need to get permission for her baptism from her father. I´ll let you know how it all turns out.
Nothing much more has happened this past week. So I'm going to talk about something I haven´t talked about in a while. THE LANGUAGE. I´m learning... slowly, but learning. It´s actually pretty funny, different principles of the language are beginning to click. I´ve been trying to use and understand some of the rules that I learned in the MTC and during my personal study for the past nine months, but the Lord decided that I needed to struggle. But more recently, they have just clicked, and I´m using them a lot more. It´s been nice. But I'm POSITIVE that my companion wants to punch me sometimes. Because we´ll be talking about one thing, and I won´t know the word - so I´ll describe it to her and she'll tell me what it is. Within 30 seconds I´ll forget the word, or how to pronounce it and I´ll ask her again. This will happen about 20 times each day with the same word. So ya, I´m sure she wants to punch me sometimes. :D But she loves me! :P Anyway, I´m struggling, but It´s coming. NO SE PREOCUPE!
Well, I've got to run. I pray everything is going well there back at home. I love you all with all of my heart and am so grateful for the Gospel in our lives. Continue in this path, it is the only way - there is no other. Be safe, Be smart, and trust in the Lord in all that you do. Recognize his hand in all.
 Love you!

Cataratas, Iguazu Falls, Argentina

I celebrated for Kyle :)

Hola Familia de mio!
Kyle, Felicitaciones on the farewell talk! I heard it went great! And, even though you guys had the three hour church, you had a TON of people at the house. Awesome. And the fam looks great. Oh how I miss them, but I´ll see them soon. It´s strange how fast time flies. really.... You´ll be shocked Babe.
I know that tonight is the night that the kids go out for the TRADITIONAL ice cream and advice... let´s see.... my advice to Kyle would be... well one, DON¨T WORRY ABOUT THE LANGUAGE. lol... I´m still trying to get over the fact that the Gift of tongues is not all at once. ´:) It really does take time and POCO POR POCO (little by little.). I remember the first week I busted into tears because I couldn´t get the door approach right... it sucked to be honest. But, I´ve learned to have patience... A LOT of patience... still learning. And second, don´t be afraid to do your calling. Seriously, it´s hard to go up to people and talk to them, but you have to remember that these people are the children of our Heavenly Father, your brothers and sisters, and the ONLY way (2 Nephi 31:21) they can get back to him, is through Repentance, and Baptism by the proper authority. I guarantee you will have a lot of people telling you that they have already been baptised... How do you tell someone that their baptism was a baptism to the worlds point of view, but not in the heavens. Mathew 16:19 (I believe, when Christ gives Peter the keys to bind on earth AND in Heaven). Study this and practice it as much as you can in the MTC, you will be glad you did. :)
OH, and the subject sentence, that´s right, I celebrated Kyle going on a mission... by going to the CATARATAS!
:D Yep, this morning at 2 am we were headed to Iguazu where one of the natural wonders of the world is located. Our entire district got permission from president to go. It was an awesome experience. The ONLY problem, 10 hours of travel, 3 hours in the park. But, we got some awesome photos and were able to see El Garganta del Diablo (devils throat) and the others. AWESOME experience, hopefully not my last. I¨m super tired, but a Happy Camper. :) Happy Mission Babe! :D
Not a lot happened this week. We do have 3 new people with baptism dates. 2 girls, 11 and 13 years old and the mom of the 11 year old. But the mom has to get married and she doesn´t want to come to church... or is afraid. The husband drinks and smokes so... we are working with it.  They really want him to change but don´t, or
can't seem to, do anything about it. We are hoping that through the power of example he will change.
OK, I really have to run. But I love you all so much, and I´m grateful for this Gospel every day of my life. Be safe, Be smart, stay strong, and trust in the Lord. OH, and If you see Ammon, call him Gus and say Hi for me. :) Thanks.
LOVE YOU!

The trial of our faith/working ability....

Hey ho familia! ;)

Wow, I can´t believe a week has passed by again, and now you all are preparing this week for Kyle´s farewell. HOW WEIRD IS THAT!? The last of all the grandchildren. 20 grandsons, and 3 granddaughters. :) Awesome. Fact.

Kyle, I wish you luck with this amazing opportunity of speaking in Sacrament meeting, you will have many chances in your mission to do the same. A little of advice for your last week and a half. Don´t waste all your free time with your friends. Spend as much time as you can with the Fam.  Love you and good luck!

We were able to color our eggs last Saturday for Easter. I would love LOVE to send you pictures, but, this computer is a little old and won´t recognize the connection. SO, I´ll send them next week. :) LIE, i sent them here... hopefully. We only did 7 eggs, and the crayons we bought were terrible, but they turned out pretty cool. Hna López had never dyed eggs before, only painted them, so we had a great time.

Well, the past couple weeks I like to call ¨The Trial of our Faith/Working Ability¨. We have had very little luck with finding new investigators. We have tried asking for references from our members, to which they reply that they had already given references and that they didn´t want to listen. So, we are working our hardest to try and knock doors. It´s not fun. And we haven´t had much success. Therefore, I pose a question to all the returned missionaries out there... What is the best way you found to get references or find new investigators? I´m kind of sick of hearing the disappointment in the Zone Leaders voices, so if you could help us out, it would be highly appreciated. :)

We are having a little success with our inactive members. We are getting them to open up about why they aren´t coming to church... and the winning answer is... Offended..,. :P I would like to point you to a couple of the talks given in General Conference. I was told several times by our inactive members that they will return... eventually. When things are better in the ward, or this certain leader is not a leader anymore. I tell them many times how many blessings they are losing. And they tell me that they are happy, and everything is fine. That they know the Church is true. Ah... it´s really tiring to say the least. And really sad that they are missing out on the blessings of the Sacrament, the Temple, the peace of the Church, but we are only here to help. One word, Agency. yep

Well, got to head. Out of time again. I love you so much, keep up the amazing work. I love this Gospel with all of my heart, and I´m learning something new everyday. Be strong, Be safe, Be smart. :) Love you all

LOVE LOVE LOVE

Gotta Love Conference Weekend

Dear Familia De Mio
How are things going? How was conference for you guys? What were your favorite talks? I especially love the end line of Elder Holland... It´s getting late..  Love it!!!  All of us were like, WHAT A LINE! But it is true... it is getting late, how are you preparing? :) Conference was such a complicated mess here. Saturday, we got to the church an hour early, and waited, and waited, and waited a little bit more. Until about 12:45 (conference started here ate 1:00) when our Zone Leaders showed up with a member. So at this moment, 15 minutes until conferences started, and we had 4 missionaries, and 1 member and NOTHING set up. Well, skipping ahead 25 minutes (1:10), we finally had someone from the stake show up to set up the screen so that we could watch conference, and then after they set up the English for the missionaries. So we were unable to listen to President Monson´s opening talk. So, if he announced temples, I would be more then happy to hear. Hint.. :) But after that, everything ran smoothly. Sunday, we were told by the Stake President, that we (the missionaries) had to go to the institute building to hear Conference, cause there wasn´t enough room in the stake center. But, the problem was that we had investigators in the meeting. So, we were at the chapel until about 5 minutes after, and then we walked, 20 minutes, to the institute building, where we missed the talk from Elder Uchtdorf and half of the second. Oh, and all in fast speaking Spanish. So it was a little bit harder for me to take notes since I was trying to understand. Then we had to leave 20 minutes early to meet our investigators when they left the chapel. So, I missed the end of President Monson´s talk. What a day huh? :) But, all is well.

I had an accident leaving the conference 20 minutes early. Photo attached. :)
I was coming down the stairs from the institute building, and hit the last step on the side of my bad ankle. So, I fell. and hurt my ankle. But not too bad. It just feels like it´s bruised. So I´m still walking and talking. :) The
Lord truly blessed me. I really didn´t even have a limp afterwards, which saved me from all the questions. Don´t Panic!
I finally got the package. I´m more then happy. Now, I can only receive one more this year. Maybe for my birthday? :)  Thank you!
Sorry, I have to go. But I love you all so much. Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Pray always, watch always, and smile ALWAYS. :)
Love you, Hermana Erin Kaye Griffeth
